AVC Streamer is written entirely in C and it's small, highly portable, and suitable for running in a multitude of environments. The core AVC Streamer framework is built around capture and streaming of network media with full remote control. AVC Streamer also contains functionality to remotely view and manage your digital media library.
IPTV
AVC Streamer can be utilized in a WAN or LAN environment to provide IPTV services. Each AVC Streamer instance is able to act as a peer-to-peer node capable of receiving a real-time multimedia stream, performing real time transcoding, and re-distribution of the multimedia stream.
A common scenario is to stream one instance of a real-time video feed across a WAN. The single stream can be re-distributed n times by any node running the AVC Streamer server software, bandwidth permitting. The multimedia feed can be delivered via the following methods.
* Multicast
* RTP Unicast
* HTTP (enabling firewall traversal)
By transcoding a provider's real time video feed into much lower bandwidth, AVC Streamer is very suitable for streaming live TV programming via the internet. Set Top Box Operation
AVC Streamer is able to run on a PC, or in an embedded environment such as a set-top box. It can be used to de-mux a high-bandwidth transport stream containing many elementary streams. One ore more elementary streams can be streamed to a multitude of endpoints, including multicast addresses.
Home Theater
AVC Streamer can be run on a home grown PC to stream to one or more networked endpoints connected to Big Screen TVs. Full digital media library remote control is available from a lap-top, or touch screen devices such as an ipad, ipod, iphone.
Business Display
AVC Streamer is capable of delivering a controlled broadcast to multiple endpoints in a cafe, restaurant, or bar, or any other type of business . The owner is able to use a single interface to control output of all streamed media.
